Durga

In the eyes of a cardboard Durga
i saw the eyes of street madness, destruction, calamity
i see an indian woman, phd,
once a paediatric doctor with husband and kids,
now a madwoman in the streets of manhattan
i see her on my way to Pizza Antonio`s
she babbles
is dressed in rags
stinks
was raped once
sleeps on the street
bickered and pestered
by the rich white kids of west side
but she is in her own world
day and night
the house is lit
but no one is at home
what happen to you Lady ?
i wish to clean your feet
you are madness, perennial ecstasy
you are rejected Durga.

Shakti ! Mahashakti !
Durga Parvati.
you do not reside
in goodness, neatness, sweetness
you are the power of those,
ordinary and unknown,
who one day quietly explode, on the scene

you are mahashakti, you reside
in the madness of Baudelaire, Whitman,

madness, madness, madness

I salute you
O Mother
